Justice?

So it turns out that the wheels of justice turn slowly. Neil (the driver that hit Kathy & Casey) has had his preliminary hearing rescheduled to June 4th and 5th 2009. The prosecution asked for the extension this time. I know they want to make sure their case is air tight, but it is still frustrating for everyone who is wanting closure. By moving this date, the trial most likely won't start until December or January. It seems like injured parties, keep being injured by the very system that is supposed to protect them. My prayers go out to the Wilsons, that they can find peace, and some sense of normalcy while waiting to put this all behind them. It is hard to put their daughter to rest when they have to keep reliving the accident through the courts years after the fact. Everyone who is close to them is trying to comfort them and help them heal along with grieving and healing ourselves. We lost a "daughter" and friend that day as well, and our hearts are joined with Jack, Kathy and Andrew as we wait for the legal process to plod along.

Awwww hunny I am not sure of details as to what happened to Casey. It sounds dreadfull that the case has been put back so far.

Praying that things get sorted soon and sending hugs your way in this difficult time.

With Love Zoey

Casey and her mom were hit by a drunk driver, and Casey was killed. The man that hit them is in Jail awaiting trial.

I'm so sorry for all that is happening to the family. Unfortunately I don't have much faith in the system For the guy to be doing jail time it's probably better that they keep post-poning it as he probably won't get much time with his sentence and will probably do more time waiting. It's such an awful system of ours that keeps putting the victims through the gauntlet over and over. For their sake I hope it's over soon.

Sadly enough the longer the trial takes the longer his jail time. Kinda backwards, I know.

Traci, everyone continues to stay in my prayers. I think about all of you often. It is such a shame, the way they drag everything out.

What a horrible situation. Something similar happened in our family with my uncle. He was murdered by a drugy who wanted my uncles truck. My Aunt and her two daughters still have a difficult time and you're right. The court system just drags it out and makes things worse. It's ridiculous. Praying for your friend and God's comfort for their broken hearts.
